4.4 SPI

SPI is another clocked asynchronous communication protocol. It is, in many ways, a competitor of I2C. SPI is not (as much) a multi-drop protocol. It requires a chip select line for each device. On the other hand, SPI allows full-duplex communication. This means that the master and the address slave and both transmit and receive at the same time.
